Medical Evacuations


The BVIAA recognizes the need to accommodate medical emergencies which operate outside the normal operational hours. In order to make the process transparent to the organizations or individuals making the request, the BVIAA has instituted the following procedures:


To ensure proper arrangements can be made by all organizations, thereby allowing for a smooth transition of the process.


In the event of an emergency that warrants medical evacuation at the Airports.

Responsible Person(s):

The organization or individual requesting the flight has the responsibility to notify BVIAA. It is then BVIAA's responsibility, having been notified, to seek to accommodate the request.

Execution of Procedure:

When an organization or Individual is making a request for Medivac Services, the following procedure must be followed:

Contact the Senior Air Traffic Controller Officer (SATCO) at 496-7628 and relay the following information:

  1. Arrival and Departure Airport(s) of the flight.
  2. Name and contact details of the cmpany and registratin number of the aircraft performing the flight.
  3. Name of the service provider - whether an individual or organizatin handling/ discharging the patient.
  4. Time of arrival and/or departure of the flight.


Please note that in some cases BVIAA may bill the applicant for services of the aerodrome.
